House of David!!!

Last night my husband and I sat down to watch the latest episode of House of David and something hit. In the episode, David faces Goliath but that, while one of the best Bible stories, was not what struck me. Once the giant was dead, the Philistine King looks up and sees the Prophet Samuel standing on a hill. The sight of the prophet caused the king and army to flee in fear. Now, for everyone out there that is deeply concerned with theological accuracy, just calm down. While the producers did take some creative license, the concepts depicted do align with scripture. Why did the army instantaneously run away? Because the surrounding people had already seen what God was capable of. They fully understood that if the Lord was with Israel, they were unbeatable. After all, Gideon had defeated the army with only three hundred men. The Lord would throw enemy armies into confusion and deliver them into the hands of His people.

So, the thought came to me, why can’t we understand what it means to have the Lord on our side? Here we are in the twenty first century and we can’t even stand for Biblical truth for the fear of being canceled. Or heaven forbid someone calls us mean. If we fully understood what it means to trust in the Lord, we would live our lives with boldness and trust that God has it figured out in the end. Weather it is a new business venture, a dream or calling, the people of God would just move knowing that His hand was upon us and if He is with us, we are unstoppable.
